Greenport Union Free School District Who We Are

In 1729 the first school was established in Greenport, then known as "Sterling". It was attended by boys only. The curriculum consisted of the "three R's", the most important of which was considered to be 'rithmetic. By 1805 the census had risen to thirty-one pupils, six of whom where girls. The first school building built in Greenport after the adoption of its first name was located on the east side of First Street. Read More

When we talk of PORTER PRIDE we talk about the pride that the students, parents, faculty, staff and administration feel for our school. This year promises to be both challenging and exciting as we will implement new programs, engage our students with new technology, and continue to build upon the many traditions and achievements that make the Greenport School District a source of community pride.

Our programs at Greenport grow stronger every year, and it is our belief that with your continued support and help there is no limit to our success. The students and faculty continue to earn the respect and recognition they truly deserve. Greenport’s commitment to excellence and the consistent support that we receive are certainly some of the reasons for our success.

It is an exciting time to be part of the Greenport School District. I hope to see you at our concerts, plays, sporting events and back to school nights.
